SoundLeaf Free, Pro and Supporter: what you get with the Audiobookshelf iPhone app
SoundLeaf is free to use, downloads included. Pro and Supporter only add themes, app icons and a badge. Here's what each one adds, plus restoring purchases.
SoundLeaf is free. Listening, downloads, sync and the ebook reader all work without paying.
That includes offline downloads, podcast auto-download, Read Along, Apple Watch, CarPlay, widgets, SharePlay and listening stats.
Pro adds extra themes and app icons. Supporter includes those, plus its own themes and icons, a badge and an optional spot on the Hall of Supporters. You buy them in Settings > Premium.
What’s free?
All the listening and reading features. Some older posts on the internet say downloads need a paid upgrade. That stopped being true in v2.2: downloads and podcast auto-download have been free for everyone since then.
Free also comes with six themes (Light, Dark, Sunset, Ivory, Nordic and Midnight), three app icons, all seven font styles and every text size. See themes, fonts and app icons.
What does Pro add?
Pro is a one-time purchase. Pay once and keep it.
- 20 more themes, including Paper, Forest, Espresso and the four Catppuccin themes
- 19 more app icons
- Family Sharing, for you and up to five family members
What does Supporter add?
Supporter is for people who want to help keep SoundLeaf going. It includes all the Pro themes and icons, plus:
- 8 Supporter themes, such as Gold, Ember and Parchment
- 33 Supporter app icons, on four shelves: Botanical, Precious, Artisan and Nocturne
- A Supporter badge in Settings
- Your name on the Hall of Supporters, in the app and on this website, if you want it there
There are three ways to be a Supporter. They all unlock the same things.

Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your App Store account. Manage Subscriptions on the Premium screen opens that page for you.
Settings > Premium shows the current prices from the App Store, in your own currency. Prices are set per country, so they can differ from what a friend elsewhere sees.
How do I switch to permanent Supporter?
On the Premium screen, the one-time payment option says “Unlock Supporter permanently. No renewal.” If you already subscribe, buying it does not cancel your subscription. Cancel the subscription yourself in App Store settings so it stops charging you.
What is a tip?
Once you are a permanent Supporter, the same spot offers Leave a tip. A tip is an optional one-time payment that unlocks nothing extra. It is just a thank you, and you can leave one again later.
How do I get on the Hall of Supporters?
When you are a Supporter, Your Supporter Profile appears in Settings, under the SoundLeaf section.
- Open Settings > Your Supporter Profile.
- Type a Display name. Leave it blank to stay anonymous.
- If you entered a name, leave Show me on the Hall of Supporters on to display it. Turn it off if you’d rather support quietly.
- Tap Save.
Your profile locks once you save. To change your name or take it off later, email [email protected]. Your Supporter perks work either way.
How do I restore my purchases?
On a new phone, or after reinstalling:
- Open Settings > Premium.
- Scroll down and tap Restore Purchases.
Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you bought with. If it fails you’ll see “Could not restore purchases. Please try again.” Check your connection and try once more.
Does Pro work with Family Sharing?
Yes. Through Apple’s Family Sharing, Pro works for you and up to five other people in your family group. Family members get it from Restore Purchases if it doesn’t show up on its own.
Supporter subscriptions, permanent Supporter and tips are for the person who bought them.
Why didn’t my Pro carry over from TestFlight?
Purchases in a TestFlight beta are test purchases. They cost nothing and don’t move over to the App Store version. If you want Pro or Supporter on the App Store version, buy it there.
Do purchases work offline?
Yes. Your themes and icons keep working with no connection. Pro and permanent Supporter never expire. Subscription perks last while the subscription is active. You need a connection to buy, restore or load prices.
Why does SoundLeaf say “Purchase could not be completed”?
The full message is “Purchase could not be completed. Please try again.” The App Store didn’t finish the purchase. You also see this when you cancel the payment sheet, or when the purchase is waiting for someone to approve it, such as a parent with Ask to Buy. Nothing is charged until the App Store completes it.
- Waiting for approval: wait. SoundLeaf unlocks it once the purchase is approved.
- It failed: check your connection and that you’re signed in to the App Store, then try again.
